Chief Information Commissioner
Justice Dilip Kumar Sinha (Retd.) was born on 1st of August' 1949 at Bettiah in Bihar, Justice D.K.Sinha (Retd.) underwent the primary and middle school education from Rajgir where his father was posted as the Forest Officer. He then took his admission at Bettiah Raj School and passed his Higher Secondary Examination and then did his graduation with honours in History from the M.J.K. College, Bettiah.
Justice Sinha by showing his inclination towards legal profession took his admission at the prestigious Patna Law College and having received the degree of LL.B., he started his career as an Advocate in the Patna High Court where he had occasion to take up the cases of different nature and in most of the cases he was successful. For a brief period, in view of exigencies, he practiced at the Bettiah Civil Court where he got the practical training of Trial Courts and from there he competed in the Superior Judicial Service, Bihar and finally selected consequently, he joined as the Addl. District and Session Judge at Chaibasa (Bihar).
He was then promoted to the post of District and Sessions Judge in the year 2001. In the year 2004 he was picked up by the High Court of Jharkhand and was posted as Registrar (Vigilance) of the said Court.
Justice Sinha was elevated as the permanent Judge of the High Court of Jharkhand, Ranchi on 27th February'2006 and demitted his office on his retirement on 1st August' 2011. The Government of Jharkhand having considered the performance of Justice Sinha in various capacity in the legal field, nominated for the coveted post of Chief Information Commissioner of Jharkhand and he is now sharing his valuable experiences in implementation of Right to Information Act 2005 with full dedication to make informations accessible to the needy after he assumed the said office on 5th of August' 2011.
